Pung Kuehs

Chomp Venue:
Tampines St. 12

-

It's the Hungry Ghost Festival, so my grandma prepared a lot of food for praying to pay respects to our ancestors and my late grandpa and great grandmother.

Home made teochew kuehs (made from mini molds!): Pung kueh (rice kueh). Yummmy. Once you eat homemade traditional kuehs, you won't want to try those sold outside, which are filled with MSG/dried shrimps or which have skin that is too thick, rice that is too hard, ingredients which are not as fresh. Anyway, my grandma (and my uncle-in-law's) kuehs are unrivalled. The skin of the pung kueh is thin yet chewy and QQ, and the rice is fragrant and sweet without too many dried shrimps (which can get smelly). Jin hor jia ah (真好吃)!!
