Mum wanted to try a different cuisine for birthday, so 2jie booked this Russian restaurant for mum's birthday lunch:). The decor was like the 70s, very old school, and the food were served on trolleys! The lighting was rather dim, so we took a seat by the window. We were ravenous so we quickly placed our orders after browsing through the extensive menu. Ordered two soups, the famous Borsch soup and another fish one which I can't recall the name. The borsch soup rocked with its creamy soup base and chunky meats!

2jie's meal: Shashlik at $25 (signature dish: beef), served on a hotplate, without any sauces, and with a salad. Took one bite and the beef was still tender although it was well done:).

My meal: Grilled salmon served with potatoes and mixed vegetables (which I pushed away except for the corns). Maybe I'm noob, but I liked the lemon "squeezer"! With that I could squeeze the lemon without any qualms. The salmon was perfect and extremely buttery.

Mum's meal: Lamb chop, served with fries and mixed vegetables. The lamb was very chewy (a tad too chewy) and it didn't have the strong lamb odour (羊骚味).

The highlight of the day: Banana Flambé~ (at $7.00)
It was damn exciting when they served the dessert. One of the lady waiters specialised in preparing this dessert right before the customers.. She peeled the banana, sliced it and fried it a little in a small pan with some sauce which looked like caramel plus product X, Y, Z. Then she splashed some wine into the pan and flames erupted from the pan!! Everyone else in the restaurant turned to look at our dessert. When the flames subsided, she transferred the banana plus sauce onto a plate and scooped one scoop of vanilla ice cream and put it in the middle of the plate.
It was heavenly. The cold ice cream plus the hot sauce plus the taste of the wine and yes the bananas. I was never a fan of bananas, but this dessert changed my perspective of it. I want to come back here for this dessert! Also, when I went to check out other people's reviews on the restaurant, the Bomb Alaska is another very famous and yummylicious dessert. Okay, time for the poor student (me) to go earn more spare cash to pay for these kind of meals. Spent about an average of $37 each for 2 soups, 3 main courses, 1 dessert. (But it didn't really matter this time round cos it was 2jie who footed the bill=])
